A private-island sanctuary, home to one of the largest pools in the Maldives

A 30-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport, Kuda Villingili is a private-island sanctuary home to one of the largest pools in the Maldives, stretching 150 metres through the heart of the island. With beach villas and overwater villas, direct access to the Chicken's Break surf point and a barefoot-glamour spirit, it is one of the archipelago's most exciting recent openings.

The island brings together beach villas and overwater villas, each with a private pool, alongside multi-bedroom beach residences designed for families. Days move between the vast pool, the turquoise lagoon and snorkelling trips to nearby reefs, with dining spanning eight restaurants, from Nikkei at Mar-Umi to the fire-led grill at Fire.

"Close enough to reach without a seaplane, yet private enough to feel like your own island."

That 150-metre pool is a genuine showstopper, and with the famed Chicken's Break surf point right off the island, Kuda Villingili blends barefoot ease with a real sense of place. This is the modern Maldives at its most effortless, and one of the reasons the resort has become one of the archipelago's most talked-about addresses.
